Procedure : Dental Implant, Lower Right

This patient presented us with an abscess of the lower right molar, #30. She had the option of removing the tooth and doing nothing to replace it, replacing it with a bridge, or placing a single dental implant to restore the tooth. She opted to have the dental implant procedure.

As the tooth had an active infection, and Dr. Michael was not able to definitively remove all of the infected tissue at the time of the dental extraction, the implant was done in a two-stage approach instead of an immediate implant. The tooth was removed and a socket preservation procedure was performed with bone grafting and a platelet graft using PRGF from the patient.

After 4 months, the dental implant was placed under oral sedation. Three months later, an implant abutment was placed and an impression was taken for the final crown. Three weeks later, the permanent implant restoration was tried in an cemented once the fit and color were approved by the patient.
